I have been following the browns fan since 1964. i always thought that when they introduced the super bowl in 1967 that i would get to see the browns play in one with my dad.

my dad passed away in 2009, never getting to see his beloved browns make it to the big game. i still held out hope that i would be able to see the browns in the super bowl. at last, i turned 65 this year and looking at the deals and strategy of the browns front office i doubt i will live long enough to see them make the super bowl.

For me, it's all about the draft and building your team thru the draft. in our division, you have to be able to do two things. run the ball and stop the run. we cant stop anyone from running and we don't run the ball enough.

we need to abandon this analytic style of drafting and starting getting players that meet the strategy of running the ball and being able to stop the run. if you look at the rest of the teams in our division, they all have solid defensives and the ability to run the ball. they are the ones winniong division title, not us.

it's time to abandon paul depodesta and kevin stefanski and move on. there strategies are not working for drafting players or for gaming planning.

i hope one day before i die to see the browns in the super bowl, it's looking like a long shot right now.

I agree with you 100%. I grew up a Browns fan, as did my dad and he's up there in age to the point that I do worry that he will never get to see them go to a Super Bowl.

And I agree, the whole analytics strategy doesn't always work. Yeah it may work for some, but it seems that most teams can't figure out how to make it work.

I was always under the impression that we should always go for the best players and not go on stats and analytics. Just go for the players who show the passion for the game, and I think that's the first step to making a team that isn't about following trends and finding the best of the best.

I never got the whole analytics are king craze when it comes to picking players. Yeah sure stats spell out talent, but just because someone is talented doesn't mean they will be good for us.

What about a player like Jamaal Williams, who didn't have many blowout seasons until he landed with the Lions. Just because a player doesn't show talent right away, doesn't mean he doesn't have it.

I think we need to go for players that scouts watch and see in action, not based on their stats alone.

I may be young, but life is sadly short and I too worry that I won't ever see them play in a Super Bowl. My parents are big Browns fans as well, and they are the same, as my dad is 68 and mom is 63 and they have always wanted to see them play in the super bowl.

I agree that things need to be changed. It's like management can't figure out how to make a longstanding team that can get wins.

I'm sorry to hear that about your dad. I know all too well how ya feel. I've been a Browns fan since I was a kid. I was born into the fandom. And seeing them constantly lose sucks.

But I think we'll get there one of these days. We have to. And I hope it's within all of our lifetimes.

As for the analytics side of it, I don't follow it, but I hope they go for whoever is the best and shows the best ability out there.

Analytics can only do so much, I don't see a point in it once we land good enough players. I think team chemistry comes into play as well. So stats don't speak for everything.

I think it should come down do scouting these guys and seeing them in action instead of looking at some stats on how well he played during this certain period. It's dumb and I don't see a point in it.

Would be nice if they actually made some changes, but it's not looking like that's the case. They keep following the stats, but then you're going to miss some good talents only putting over the stats. Some of these talents are hidden and break out of nowhere. You can't calculate that.

Hey man, we're all in this together. I may not be near your age yet, but I feel your pain. I've gotten to a point where I don't take the sport as serious anymore. It's just one misstep after the other.

Paul Depodesta needs to go, but I think Stefanski is much better than what we're saying. I just think he's been giving a poor team to work with and is having troubles.
